As I've noticed the "What are you reading now?" thread getting hi-jacked a little by people (*cough* me) talking about their favourites, I figured maybe there should be a separate thread for that?!
I guess everyone knows what to do in a thread like that...
I love a lot of books but I have three that I've read over and over again. As I've mentioned in the other thread, two of them are Lost Souls and Drawing Blood by Poppy Z. Brite.
The other is Dark Dance by Tanith Lee. I've never read another book by her and I was told most of her books are quite heavily on the fantasy side which I have yet to find a way into but this book is so ridiculously amazing. I stumbled upon it by chance when I was 13 or 14 and actually ended up stealing it from the library because I couldn't find it anywhere else. Sadly, it's hard to come across because I think it's been discontinued but if you have a chance to get your hands on a copy, read it!

The Shadow of the Wind, and The Angel's Game, by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. The Angel's Game was written after TSotW but is sort of like a prequel. They are absolutely spectacular books and everyone should read them.

anything palahniuk wrote, but particularly 'fight club' and 'survivor'. other than that... i really like sylvia plath, both as a poet and an author.

I'm with Catherine. Those are two of my favorite authors. I'm also kind of in love with the book Prozac Nation right now.

Definitely Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles.
Frank Beddor's "The Looking Glass Wars" -If you read the trilogy then you'll understand the new Alice in wonderland movie a bit better.
Darren Shan's "Cirque Du Freak"
I don't remember the Author but the "Daughters Of The Moon" series.

House of Leaves. It's like... there are no words to describe the crazy epicness going on in there.

Is House of Leaves difficult to read? I know it's got heaps of annotations and things, and probably a really complex story. I'm a really good reader but I'd still like to know more about it before I decide to read it or not.

i've had a difficult time staying faithful to it. it's engrossing. if i don't think i have several hours to sit and concentrate on it, i don't touch it.
