I love this series, I've had it on my bookshelf for a long time now and I've been able to keep them together through all of the moves. The book series is ultimately about finding ones self, even when you put yourself in a situation where you can't be yourself. The Books follow around the main Heroin of the series Alanna. Alanna has a twin brother, and at the beginning of the first book they decide to take matters into there own hands to solve a mutual problem. At the appropriate age now, they are to be sent away. Alanna to the convent and city of the gods to become a Lady, Tom her brother to the Royal Palace to be a Knight. Tom doesn't want to be a Knight, but Alanna does. But girls are allowed to be Knights. So Alanna, becomes Alan, the younger male twin. All manners of problems occur. We then follow Alanna around trying to be a Knight and trying not to let her secret get loose. The story is a little about growing up too, since we deal with a lot of those problems as she gets older including her first period. It really is an amazing Quartet of books, and if you liked this series, you can always try and look for the next Quartet of books that follow Alanna around on her many adventures after becoming a Warrior Maiden and Knight of Trebond.
