I love AFI and I agree about the fans...some of them are plain rude.

Still love AFI the fans especially as somebody already the elitist ones I know its everywhere but is so frustrating where AFI is involved because they are my favorite band and I always believed if nothing else all of us on the board had them in common.

I don't understand why people feel the need to try and make other fans feel bad about being a fan just because they've not been a fan as long or like a different album best or like them for different reasons.

yeah..like I love Crash Love...but other fans told me I was stupid for liking it so much because its not like their old stuff. Bands change. They grow so to speak. I love the songs on Crash Love, I think they are exactly AFIish.

The whole "Crash Love / any other album isn't AFI" argument always puzzles me. The songs were written by the guys, it says AFI on the cover...how can it NOT be AFI? Just because a band enjoys going into a different direction than what you're used to doesn't mean they suck.

Crash Love is my second favourite album, I think. Some people actually don't like it, which is fine, but when it's just to seem elite, cool, an old fan, whatever... that's not fine. When people bash it as if it's some terrible album, that just makes me sad.

What bothers me most is when people don't even give it a proper chance just because it's "different". I'm totally fine if people just don't like an album / song. Hell, I hate Demonomania so much, I just refuse to ever listen to it again, if I can help it! But at least listen to it once and try to be as objective as possible...

I hate people that accuse bands of selling out just because they go in a particular direction with a record. Or automaticly dismiss it because its not as heavy.

But hey, if someone doesn't like a particular AFI album for whatever reason, that's fine and there's no need to go bitchy towards the band. Just ignore that album and hope that the next one is more to their taste, if not they're still got the previous ones!

I never understand why people bitch about artists that are constantly growing and changing. That means that they are ALIVE, dummies! A body of work that never grows and continues to produce the same thing over and over again is dead.

I bet if they never sounded any different people would complain that all of their songs sound the same.

There are always going to be haters...I'm just glad that they don't care about that and they create something that they enjoy creating musically. I think it's fun having them change so much because no matter what mood I'm in, I can always count on AFI!!
What's your favorite album? (I know, it's hard to choose, but if you had to choose one...) If I had to choose I would have to go with Sing the Sorrow
